AMA Recap Crypto Library with Brokoli

On 30th August 2021, Brokoli conducted an AMA in the Crypto Library Community. Our guest is Haroldas Pakalniskis. Lots of questions as usual from the Community about Brokoli progress. The Brokoli team took part in a very interesting AMA session which included introductions, questions from twitter, and a live AMA session with the Crypto Library community. If you missed the AMA in person, read this recap for a deeper insight into Brokoli.

Let’s take a look at the most interesting points of our conversation.

Crypto Library Team : So, before we start the AMA could you please introduce yourself to our community?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : I am a co-founder of Brokoli Network. I’ve worked with brands like Nike, Lavazza, Paypal, Venmo among others you might know. Today, though, I'll be presenting how we’re making the green movement happen in DeFi. ESG markets have been the fastest growing across all VC-backed industries - but they’ve never come to DeFi. We changed that.
Crypto Library Team : What is Brokoli Network? and how is the story behind the Brokoli Network project creation?

Haroldas (Brokoli) :
We are the first climate positive DeFi platform. How it works is we make every transaction climate positive - and 90% of our revenue goes to positive climate impact. All of this comes at no extra cost for the user. I’ll let our video intro do the talking. The thing is, there’s insanely big untapped market potential for green investments in DeFi. But here’s how the story goes: It’s a two founder team - me and my partner Matas. We’ve built an accelerator for green/sustainable companies in the e-commerce space where we combined funding + marketing support. And that was called Citrus. Eventually, we started helping crypto projects with marketing. and once we were in the industry, we realized the problems that DeFi has in terms of climate impact. In fact, BTC consumes 1% of total electricity supply in the world. 1 ETH transaction equals 140,000 VISA credit card transactions.

 So at this rate, we saw that DeFi could never be globally adopted. Which is why we came up with the idea for Brokoli (continuing the tradition of naming our companies after fruits or veggies) — and the name Brokoli because it looks like a tree.

This infographic does a good introduction about Brokoli. In short, what we’re building is a climate-positive layer for multi-chain DeFi. So we build a set of products that cover all of DeFi and make it climate positive so that DeFi could actually reach global adoption. And all of this, for the first time in history, comes at no extra cost for the user. These are our products:

Crypto Library Team : What features and products does Brokoli Network want to offer? And why should we choose Brokoli Network?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : We have a set of products that cover all of DeFi’s functionalities, and make DeFi climate positive at no extra cost for the user. We start with a green DEX aggregator that provides price efficiency + climate positivity, and later follow with other products. There are a few aspects why Brokoli is unlike anything that has been ever created before. One, Brokoli makes climate impact decisions available to the individual. Before Brokoli, only a handful of powerful politicians and billionaires could have made global climate decisions. Brokoli puts this power into the hands of the community — you guys. All of the climate fees that we collect are distributed to climate positivity projects via a DAO vote. There’s also one very important point. Brokoli is one of the very few projects that closed its funding round WITHOUT VCs. This means that we’re in a stronger position in terms of the token. Because VCs tend to dump the token’s value down. We’re fully funded by other project founders that want to make DeFi climate positive. And the green NFTs is what makes us a play-to-earn. So we merge DeFi with GameFi.

Crypto Library Team : Please tell us about $BRKL token! What are the token use-case, distribution, and where we can buy it?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : These are the use cases of $BRKL token:

Brokoli will receive Climate Fees from Brokoli DEX, collected in native tokens like ETH. And API-collected Climate Fees in native tokens. so that comes with the first two products that are going live. later, we’ll also generate fees from other products. Native tokens are then used to buy $BRKL tokens and distributed to token holders. That stake and participate in the community vote via airdrop. Of the climate fees collected, 10% of them will be used as community rewards for token holders, liquidity providers and platform users:
  • Paid out to token holders that stake and vote for governance proposals
  • Randomly distributed to platform users to incentivize product adoption
  • Used for token burn
Which makes BRKL a deflationary token for two reasons:
  1. There’s a token burn every month once the product is live on mainnet
  2. Our monetization, the 10% is exchanged to BRKL tokens in the secondary market
The unlock schedule is as follows: 125,000,000 total supply. For private and public rounds, price will be $0.064 per token with 20% unlocked at TGE, 3 month cliff, then daily unlocks over 15 months. IDO will take place in three spots:
  • DAO Maker’s launchpad
  • Our own website, for which you can subscribe to our waitlist
  •’s exchange
Crypto Library Team : Could you give us some information about your roadmap, your milestones, and also your future plans?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : We started this year in spring. Received the support of DAO Maker which have listed us on their launchpad. This is hard proof of our project’s seriousness and a well identified problem in the industry. One thing you’ll be interested in is that one of our products is an API that projects can integrate to become climate positive. And it already has adoption, even before our launch 10+ projects have signed up to use it. With a combined market cap of 3 billion USD. this article explains it:
This is also a recent partnership that we did. XCAD decided to reward their community with auctioning a part of their allocation as NFTs it was the fastest NFT allocation sell out to date. We’ve also released the DEMO of our product which you can access at if you press the button ‘Launch Demo’.  In the near future, we’ll run our public sale on DAO Maker:
Which is the #1 launchpad in the industry. In general, we’re running user tests on our products. We have a team of I believe 25 testers who are the first to see what we’re working on. By testing the product with the users, we can improve user experience to eventually make it the best that there is.
Crypto Library Team : On Broccoli, fees are distributed through token holder voting. 90% fees go to the planet, and 10% fees back to community. How does Broccoli earn money to keep the platform running and pay bills if the platform doesn't get any revenue from transactions?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : 2 main sources of revenue, which we built to be resilient as they represent both B2C and B2B audiences:
  1. Decentralised products such as our Green DEX, green dApps, NFTs, which generate climate fees
  2. Integrations into other projects with our API integration, that generate us revenue from the audience of other project
The platform’s monetization actually is involved in the 10%. To understand this topic, we need to cover the vastness of DEX trading volume. Sushiswap for example only has a small share of the market. But they process 2 million in fees per day. Which amounts to 700 million per year. so monetization doesn’t have to be high to yield high revenue. That’s just the nature of the industry. Of the 10%, a share goes to the company. And keep in mind that we have a product suite that covers all of DeFi. Say if with the DEX aggregator alone we process 700 million in fees per year. Add green yielf farming, green lending, green integrations, and it amounts to billions in revenue. the 10% is distributed as follows:
  • Company
  • Token holders who participate in governance
  • Token burn
  • Platform use rewards
  • LP rewards
With % changing along the roadmap.

Crypto Library Team : Brokoli transforms existing DeFi infrastructure by making price efficiency and climate action a part of every transaction. Can you explain more about this idea? What makes this innovation attractive?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : Social good + commerce with a purpose has always been the most lucrative opportunity.
  • Bitcoin -> Decentralized
  • Apple -> Privacy
  • Tesla -> Climate
Positive impact = [social change for generations] + [empires worth billions]. Brokoli makes DeFi climate clean & cost-efficient. Brokoli is the first in history, even outside of DeFi, that makes climate decisions available to the individual. Brokoli is also the first in history to make climate positive transaction a part of every transaction in all industries. And as a matter of fact. Brokoli is unlocking the gate to untapped $40 trillion USD in market potential. That’s how much green investments are worth in traditional finance - it’s the fastest growing asset class. But before Brokoli, that number stood at 0.
Crypto Library Team : I see you guys have a brokoli 1 click solution, can you explain further and what are the benefits?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : You may ignore it, but you already know the reason why crypto markets halved earlier this year. Sustainability problems, publicly voiced by Elon Musk, led to the biggest market crash we’ve seen in years. Let me give you a crash course on how much crypto is actually damaging the planet (feel free to read more here):
  • Ethereum and Bitcoin consume as much electricity as the country of Turkey. Most of it is non-renewable, from coal-fired plants.
  • 1 Ethereum transaction has a carbon footprint of 130k+ VISA transactions. Bitcoin’s footprint per transaction equals 1.8 million VISA transactions
  • In a given year, Bitcoin produces as much electronic waste as the country of Luxembourg.
  • Every Bitcoin transaction produces 80 grams of e-waste. That’s nearly 2 golf balls worth of waste.Every. Single. Transfer.
Brokoli’s Integration allows you to offer a 1-click check box at the transaction point: if users opt in, their transaction becomes climate positive. Here’s how it looks: After a user checks the box, 1–1.5 USD worth of native tokens used in the transaction will be credited to climate offsets. Brokoli funds three areas of projects to offset a transaction’s impact: tree-planting, renewable energy, and e-waste collection & recycling — all certified by third party auditors.

Crypto Library Team : I think NFT is a really popular topic right now what is your opinion about NFT? Do you have any plans to add Nft's to your ecosystem as this is the hottest topic in the crypto space?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : NFTs are actually a big part of Brokoli. This is an example. Every time you use our Green DeFi products, you earn tradable NFTs pegged to the amount of trees you helped plant. On top of that, you choose where trees should be planted by voting for your favourite tree planting initiatives across the globe. Brokoli’s digital forests allow you to own your impact as fractionalized NFTs. Digital forests will function as a tradable asset, pegged to real-world forests. When you use any of our products (DEX, lending, yield farming), you make a positive climate impact. This impact then automatically grows your own digital NFT forest. The more you use our products, the more trees you plant (in both real and NFT forests). Also, the more trees you plant, the more tradable assets you own.
Here’s how you can earn green NFTs and build your digital forest:

Crypto Library Team : I want to support your project. Tell us more about the Ambassador Program and in what ways can we participate?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : Every idea has a leader and every idea needs an audience. Brokoli Network is looking for project ambassadors to spread the word about us and our goal — climate action available to every individual through blockchain. Apply here:
Why should you become an ambassador?
  • VIP entrance. Be the first to get the latest news and sneak peaks into our project’s development.
  • Rewards. We will have tasks for you which will be rewarded in points. USDT, allo, merch — you name it.
  • Build reputation. As an official ambassador of Brokoli you will be building not only our reputation but your own as well. Global influence rings a bell?
  • Be part of our team. Being our ambassador means you are part of our team. Dive in, learn, grow with the project.
  • Reach the top. Rank as high as possible among the ambassadors and be awarded for your efforts.
This has more details:
Crypto Library Team : In 2022 you at Brokoli Network expect to implement your referral system. How will this system work? How much could an average user earn for inviting his friends to your platform?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : The referral system is a part of the NFT ecosystem. It’s one of the three types of quests that you can do to get digital trees:
  1. You complete daily ‘quests’ that get us organic marketing (e.g. reply to Elon's tweet about Brokoli) -> you get X trees (based on verified completion of tasks);
  2. You refer a friend (Revolut referral model) -> you get X % of trees your referred friend gets during the 1st month of his platform use;
  3. If you're a verified influencer, you share news about Brokoli on Instagram, TikTok, etc -> you get X trees on influencer-exclusive daily tasks
Crypto Library Team : Do the token holders have right to participate in the governance of the project? On what kind of decisions can they vote on about the project?

Haroldas (Brokoli) : The biggest one is governance - ability to participate in our DAO and vote on fund distribution to renewable energy, e-waste collection, and tree planting projects. Apart from that, token holders and platform users receive 10% of collected fees via airdrops for using the platform and staking BRKL token. We also set aside tokens to burn periodically and will provide discounts to participate in the Brokoli launchpad for climate positive crypto companies in the future.
